I decided to give triathlons a try. I have had some life changes and my opportunities to train on my bike for 3+ hours are dwindling. I am also seeing too many injuries in the MTB racing world and that is making me nervous. I like this old body and want to keep her!
So, I signed up for a swimming course (who actually swims? We all just "play" in the water and swim 10 feet most of the time right?). I have learned a lot and will continue to learn how to swim fast and efficiently. I found I LOVE swimming. I also practiced running about 5 times and then went out and gave it a shot.
1/2 mile swim, 20 mile ride, 4 mile run. THANK goodness for the long bike ride. I did not do well in the swim portion, kicked some good butt on the bike and was average Joe on the run. All in all, I came i 13th out of 42 so I cannot complain for my first TRI. I really like the concept of racing myself. I feel safer and still get to stay in great shape. I wore my beautiful Velo Bella Jersey and they were all so jealous!
