B&L Women’s Series

Designed for women by women, this series aspires to inform, challenge, and educate as well as provide you an opportunity to meet and mingle with local women who enjoy cycling almost as much as you!

Initially, our Women’s Workshops will be taught by Jenny Skorcz. Jenny has an extensive background in cycling. She has written for major cycling publications about mechanics and bio-mechanics. Jenny was the Head Instructor at the prestigious Barnett Bicycle Institute. She developed a Cycling Posture program that integrates Pilates and Yoga as an aspect of off-bike conditioning and offers her services through Serenity In Sport. Learn more about Jenny at http://www.serenityinsport.net.

We plan to begin our Women’s Series with a Meet & Greet on Thursday, March 10th. Refreshments will be served at 6:30pm and our main event will begin promptly at 7pm. Each workshop will run appx. one hour and we will reserve time at the end for Q & A. All particpants will receive a 15% discount on one purchase; this purchase can be made that evening or any time over the weekend following the event.

Series #1

Mechanical Systems 3/10

Cleaning & Maintenace 3/24

Top Ten Things That Can Go Wrong On A Ride 4/7

Our first three workshops are intended to link mechanical systems with maintenance and on the fly repair. In Mechanical Systems, we are exposed to the inner functions of the various systems on the bike. Additionally, we will explore how to inspect parts for wear and receive some idea of service intervals for bearings, wheels, and drive train componants.

Once the bike is professionally serviced, the second workshop becomes essential. How do you protect your investment? What kind of basic maintenance can you perform? How do you clean your bike effectively? What kinds of cleaners are safe - and what needs to be relubed? Find answers to these questions at Cleaning & Maintenance.

The final clinic in this series is a fun, informative workshop designed to help you begin to effectively diagnose squeeks, pops, and mis-shifts. Rest assured, something will eventually go wrong and you will be ready to fix it!

Although these workshop topics do relate, it is not necessary to attend all three. Come when you can - and bring a friend! All events are free, but pre-registration is required as space may be limited. Please contact Jenny Skorcz ay jenny@blbikes.com to register.
