I'm seeking you out for some Bella support. I will be riding in Pelotonia, completing a 2-day, 180 mile ride, from Ohio State University in Columbus, to Ohio University in Athens, and back, on August 21 and 22.
Last year, The James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University began Pelotonia to ride against cancer. Because of the amazing business donors who put on the ride, 100% of the money you donate, yes, every single penny, goes DIRECTLY to cancer research.
My own dad was treated at the James Cancer Hospital, for whom the ride raises funds, 2 years ago, successfully. When he was diagnosed with cancer, he would have gone anywhere in the coutry to seek out the best medical attention, but luckily the best hospital, The James Cancer Hospital, was only an hour drive for him (in Columbus, where I live).
I am a middle school teacher, but in the summers I work part-time at a bike shop, and through our shop, help lead weekly training rides for all levels of female cyclists. Many of the women who join my rides specifically bought a bike and began cycling with a goal of riding the 180 mile, 2 day route. One of the women who has joined our rides is one of the lead doctors at the James (Dr. Shah), and through cycling, I am so blessed to have met her, as she has been able to tell me first-hand about the advancements in cancer treatments she has seen in her career - and she is young! I can only imagine what can be done in the upcoming years with the money raised from Pelotonia! (watch her video from last year's Pelotonia: http://vimeo.com/6262839)
Last year was the inaugural year for Pelotonia, and I watched many of those women with joy as they completed their first century and more. I am SO excited to join them this year, in 2 weeks! If you could donate, every dollar helps, is fully tax-refundable, and fights cancer. Please click on the link below if you would like to donate.
