Hi Bellas,

AS IF!  :P  Actually, I'm rather a manic depressive...

Mary Wienholts from Cincinnati checking in to say Hello.

Happy to say that some of my favorite Bike Racing friends and I are hoping to join the Velo Bellas very soon.

Any "get started" tips for us would be greatly appreciated!  We've got a really wide variety of talents...some prefer road and some are great all-rounders.  Who knows what the future will bring?!

No advice is too basic, no challenge too great.  Can't wait to read everything I can about you and look forward to hearing all your stories and reports!

Yours truly,

Mary K Sunshine

Hi Mary!  Good to see you.  It's very cool that you and your friends are thinking of becoming Velo Bellas.  Looking forward to seeing some more kitty-clad women in the greater Ohio Valley area.

Do you have Bellas in your area to ride with?  I am sure they can give you some great ideas and tips.  Welcome aboard, BTW.

Hi Mary!

Great photo -- thanks for sharing.
If you're got TT bars, do you do a lot of longer distance riding, or strictly time trials?
And if you and your bike ever make it to the Upper Left Edge, I'll be happy to show you around. Cheers--Beth

Hi and welcome. Guess you get a longer riding season than those of us north of you.

Hi Lindsay,

I'm really looking forward to the coming season as a Velo Bella!  My buddy Blair has been our focal point and we are hoping to get organized in the next month.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.  It would be great to meet you in person someday!

Thanks!!

Hi Beth!

What a great pink bike you have there!!!

I've just got a road bike that I put aero bars on.  I do TTs, crits, road races, and triathlons...some short and did a couple Ironmans...but I'm actually pretty new to road racing.

We are just starting up the group here.

What kind of racing do you prefer?

Hi!!

My daughter just started school in Interlochen.  I'll be in Traverse City on Dec 12-16.  Do you have snow up there yet?  Do you know of any place I could rent XC skis?? or if it isn't unbearably cold, would lOVE to find a place to ride.

Thanks,

Mary

Brick Wheels in Traverse City will rent the ski's. They are probably the best place.  Also, I think Timber Ridge may have some. Lot's of places to ski if the snow is on the ground.

AHHHH!!! L-ROD AND MARY IN ONE LOVELY MESSAGEBOARD THREAD!! I love both of you!!!

Oh hey.

I spazzed out before I read all of the thread, so I'll go back and do that now...

I'm so excited.

I'll see your magical cupcake-faces at cyclocross races....aaannndd we're still all going to Iceman together, yes? MISS MARY, have you ridden at Versailles or anywhere yet?

I'm not sure if it's closer, but Hueston Woods has trails too...and you can rent bikes from the little MTB Shack...umm I forgot the name? Gosh, I even bought my bike there....I think it's called Julie's Mountain Bikes?

Maybe we could coordinate something so we could ride together. I have no classes on Friday, so maybe we could ride sometime...perhaps the Friday prior to the Sat/Sun UCI CX festival!

Emily!

I need a new fun focus.

I will rent a mountain bike at Houston Woods over Labor Day weekend.  You will probably hear me screaming in fear...

Could meet you halfway in Columbus once I find a bike.

You are completely awesome!  And Lindsay, too!!!

Mary
