Anyone else doing the T-Rex triathlon on Aug 13th?  Aw, come on!  Its just a sprit distance!  Since I'm not doing many road races this year I thought I'd stay on the triathlon kick.

Any takers??

Sounds neat, Dianna!  How about Clark Lake, this coming Sunday?  Our awesome local tri club talked me into it.  My performance won't be pretty, but I'll be smiling, "ralking" (run - walking) with cowbells and assorted flair & cheering everyone on.  It's a little south of Jackson ... come on over!  Also a sprint :)

Wow, that was LOADS of fun.  There were little dinos all over the place.  In fact, there were dinos in the swim area too!  This was only my third tri, and frankly, they are so much more fun than just a regular old bike race!!!

Race report:

There were 375 participants.

Swim: I was 57th out of 156 women (17:11) Not bad for not being in the water since May!  I would have had a much faster time if I had not "waited out the crowd" to avoid the nasty kicking to the face.

Bike: I was 6th out of 156 women and 46 of ALL cyclists Wooo Hooo (33:11)  (Gotta love saying "on your left" to a guy and watch his face drop as he realizes he is being passed by a chick)  bwaahhh haaaa haaaaa

Run: ahem, I was 120 out of 156 women....er and....305th out of all participants. (34:22  Um, yah, like I've said a million times... I'm not a runner!)  This was so painful for me.  Ickie....  blaaahhh...  The entire time I kept thinking, "this would be so much faster on my bike".  tee hee  Yah, and all those people I passed on the bike kindly passed me on this phase of the tri.

Transitions:  Very average and certainly could use some improvement based on the other times I saw.

Total time was 1 hr 28 mins.  All in all, I had a GREAT experience. I did as expected in each event and I'm really happy with the results. BUT...if I could shave off only 10 minutes from my run time I could certainly top 5!!!   (But that would mean I'd have to, you know, train for the running and all...)  Ah, maybe I'll just stick to what I'm good at!

Hey Kristel....  is that you I see on this list of participants????

Most excellent time!  1 hr 24 mins!   Looks like you "whooped my butt" in the run section!!  LOL!!!  27 minutes!  (wow....That is a far cry from my rather abysmal 34 minutes.)  And your transition times are a minute better!  Please tell me HOW that is done!

Congrats!  Wish I'd known you were out there!

Yes, it was me =)  And thanks!  I had the worst gosh-darn-aweful cramp that day.... If you were around me on the run, you'de think I was nuts, as I was moaning and practically cursing out-loud the whole way.  I probably made everyone around me run faster to get away from me, haha!

The transition has come with 3 years of practice... and I have slip on shoes, no need to tie anything... just slip-on & go ;-)

Way to rock it on the bike & swim!  Congrats!

Here is a pic of our tri gear.  (Very swanky!)  Well, you can't see the tri shorts because I took the time to actually put the cycling shorts over them for the cycle portion.  (I was afraid my buns would be too tender if I didn't go with the more cushy padding during the cycle portion.) tee hee

I know....I don't look like a runner!   (Um...and I'm not.)   I've still got my swimmers shoulders from high school.  :D
