June 10th was the final race in the Y-Riders series. Alicia and I were both racing. My race started first. Since there were only 2 females we started with the guys. It was a fairly small group since there were many other races happening that weekend. I did not even get to the starting line before I made a complete idiot of myself. I do know what I did wrong, but I just sorta feel over with my bike. All I could think of was that this is not a good start to a race. So I got up and headed to the start line. Off I went, then I realized I did not have my inhaler and I was not wearing my gloves. There is a unlimited supply of poison ivy and jaggers on the trail. I tried to refocus and continue. Everything seemed great. My legs felt awesome and my bike and I were totally clicking. I was flying down the trail and caught some lose dirt on a turn and down I went. I think I actually bounced off the ground. I ended up hitting my head and hip pretty hard. I was ready to turn around and head back the way I came. I really had my bells rung on this one. But I decided I was going to do this. I ended up only finishing one lap and stopped because hip was really hurting. This was the first race I really felt like I have power in my legs and I was able to give it all I had. I also did major damage to my helmet. I still had a great time though even with my crash.
Alicia's race was next. It was her and a bunch of boys. She only had one lap. She did an awesome job. She finished before some of the boys did. Then she had enough energy to continue riding for another hour or so.
Here are the final results for the Y-Riders Series.
Alicia was first overall in the Female 15 and Under Category and I was happy to take second in the Female Open category.
This is why my hip hurt. This was taken a few days after the race.
