Hi y'all!
I'm going to be in SD for work from the 22nd through the 25th and was looking for some rides/races that weekend. It looks like the Tour of California is going on too, though.
I'm also looking for a bike to rent - good folks that ride a 52? Good shops close to the Holiday Inn downtown (right now I don't have a car, but if logistics look too nasty, I might opt for one for the weekend).
I'm looking forward to logging some SERIOUS miles since it's cold and nasty up here in Montana and San Diego will probably be MUCH nicer.
Thanks for any help!
Tina

Howdy Tina.
I don't know of any races that weekend, but you could check out socalcycling.com and sd-cycling.com. Lots of good stuff on both those sites.
I live in Oceanside (about 40 minutes north of San Diego), so I'm probably not the best one to direct you on San Diego locations. However, I know that B&L Bike store is FANTASTIC. They just opened a new location closer to where you'll be.
As far as rides go- what are you in the mood for? If you want to do a nice 50 mile, mostly flat, almost no cars, and very few stop signs ride that goes along the coast, I would recommend the Oceanside Harbor to San Clemente route. It's gorgeous. If you're interested, let me know and I can email you details (or even join you, depending on the day and time you want to go).
I know the San Diego Bellas usually ride on Sunday, but again, I'm probably not the best person to give you details on that!
No matter what, I hope you enjoy it out here. It really is a cyclists' paradise!

Hi Tina,
I'm also in San Diego (close to downtown) and would be happy to help you out if I can. Tour of California hits SoCal on Feb 23-24 - there's been talk of a group of us going up to watch Santa Barbara stages and do some riding. But, if I don't do that and am in San Diego that weekend....I'd be happy to ride with you.
For bikes, I've had a friend rent a bike here:
http://www.blbikes.com/
And VB Julia Uhlendorf is starting work there this week, so she can probably give you more information.
And here is info on the velodrome:

Definitely get in touch before you come down!

| I will be home in San Diego this weekend.. too much stuff going on & can't leave town. I will be posting a notice on the boards about a ride Sat AM ~ 50-65 miles, probably the Highland Valley loop.
