It wasn't until the morning was almost over that Laura and I realized we had not taken any pictures. We were just having too much fun to remember.

Laura, Sua, Natasha and I were the bellas amongst the 50 or so other beginners out that morning. Our instructur that day (they rotate) was awesome. He kept all of us busy with drills and learning. The funnest part was doing a team pursuit. We got several chances to practice it and by the end, we were a tight flyin team! And it built up some confidence too.

We finished off the day with a little scratch race and awesome Laura attacked on the first lap. Too much fun watching the guys scramble to chase after her. And too much fun watching how much Laura had gained confidence in just two hours.

And so much fun that we want to go back on Saturday Sept 1..so come out and join us if you can.

You do not need any track or road racing experience. These sessions are especially designed for those who are new to the track. The class is only $5 and track bikes are available to rent for an additional $5.

You will learn basic track etiquette and velodrome rules and then we will get to learn and practice a few track events. Super fun!

The session runs from 8:30-11:30. Arrive a little earlier if you want to rent a bike so that you have time to put your pedals on it and tweak it for you.

More info on the Saturday sessions and other beginner track info is here

Hmm I might have to try this (because I missed the last one!)  and the Giro is that weekend too.... maybe another weekend in the bay!

I plan on being there too - it was fun!

Hey Lil-Ninja - if you are racing the Giro I say head out to the track w/ us, but maybe do half the workout???  All I can say is that Sue had it right...."you will definately feel this in your legs tomorrow"!  Uh, you can say that again....it didn't feel super hard when I was out there, but dang my legs were pretty fatigued for the next couple of days (felt a bit more like a weight workout sort of feeling...).  On the other hand, you might feel just fine - just thought I'd pass along my 'newbie' leg reactions:D

A ride afterwards should help

by the way, regular riding on the track will get rid of those track legs you feel the next day.

Who all is going this Sat?   I think we might be able to dust off our track bikes and make a trip to Hellyer.  Can we have lunch at the Hawaiian place that Sabine knows about?  The only thing is that it probably doesn't have margaritas, huh?

The Hawaaian place is also not so very veggie friendly.

I think we have:

Sabine
Laura
Soni
Natasha
Linda (think they might)
Erika (think they might)
Ryan (probably not, but putting her up here just in case)

I am bringing the tape measurers!

oh man.  What a fun group going to the track, unfortunately (or fortunatley), Gordon and I are doing a "barbie back pack" ride to Los Gatos for the night, then, back the next day to Monterey.

But, next time I'll be there to get rid of my "track fatigued" legs.  Yes, Sabine...Gordon had told me that same thing ( we just need to go to the track a lot more often!)
