I know I've heard a couple Bellas who will be there ... wanted to do a roll call of sorts to find out exactly who (figured no tactics are involved, so the open list is ok)
This will be my first tri. Would love to meet up with any Bellas at least just to say hi.
cheers! Mo

I've done the swim there. It's fast. No current, (relatively) warm water.
Good luck

I will be there all weekend, racing on Sunday. How could I miss cheering for the Bachelor (Officer and a Gentleman) on Saturday?

I did win my age group! I had a fun/hot/hard/good race. I woke up Sunday morning excited to race and a little nervous. After going through my usual pre-race routine I put on my transition back pack and started riding my bike from camp down to the lake with a friend. Since my camp was about a mile from the start of the race and up a huge hill I was a little worried about forgetting something. Thankfully I realized that I wasn't wearing a helmet before I started down the hill.
In the transition area I was very excited to see that my assigned transition area was not only next to one of my good friends from high school, but also at the end of a rack right near bike in/bike out. Since I'm a little, or a lot, directionally impaired I'm always thankful to have an easy to find transition area.
I lined up at the swim start with all of the other 20-24 year old women as well as some Team in Training women. When the starting horn went off I sprinted to the front to avoid having to swim over people. My plan worked well as I ended up being the first women in my wave out of the water, but unfortunately I ended up having to swim over/around lots of men who started in the wave in front of me. I have never grabbed (accidentally) so many old men's butts in my life.
The Wildflower Olympic bike course starts out with the infamous Lynch Hill. Feeling a little dizzy upon exiting the water I decided to just spin up the hill. By the time I hit the top of the hill I had recovered a little and was excited to start racing the bike portion of my leg. My goal this year in triathlon has been to improve my bike split. As I raced yesterday I was immensely thankful for all of the time I have put in on my bike this year. I was also thankful for all of the great advice I've received from my Bella teammates and their fellas. I was thinking of Jen Jen telling me to relax my upper body as I climbed hills. I was thinking of Sabine as I contemplated the fact that riding in aerobars does not place one's body in the most comfortable position on the bike seat:-) I thought of Ryan as I rode up to the men in front of me and used their draft to help propel me forward as I passed them.
Heading out of transition to start my run I was aware of the fact that I was probably slightly dehydrated. I grabbed some water from the first volunteers I saw. My run was very, very hot, but cheering fans and the knowledge that I was in first or second helped me keep going. I was pretty entertained at mile five when a volunteer handed me a water cup and I noticed that he was competely naked. I've always heard of naked aid stations at Wildflower, but had never experienced one.
Crossing the finish line was amazing; there are so many cheering fans at Wildflower. As a recent Cal Poly graduate the course is my home course and tons of my friends raced and volunteered. I didn't finish in my goal time, but I was faster than last year, placed first in my age group, and am content with how I did.
I saw a Bella starting out her run. Was it you Mo?

Gosh, I've really been out of touch! I was also at the Wildflower! I did the Half Ironman course. I kept hearing that there was another Bella from CA that was out there too....but I never ran across her. (Um... if you read on you will probably assume that she finished light years before me.)
My race, was well, not really a race. My goal was to finish. I had a horrific winter for illness that led up to pneumonia a week before the event. (Yep...a week before!) My doc said I should not do it....but if I felt the need... I should under no circumstance hit anaerobic at any time during the event as it would most likely do permanent damage to my lungs.
Soooo I had my marching orders. Did I finish? Yep! I walked the entire run.....I didn't chase down not even ONE single solitary rider that passed me. (Ouch...the pride took a beating on that one.) tee hee BUT...I finished! And...I just got a clean bill of health this week. Wooo Hooo.....
I've already told myself I have to go back next year when I am well. That was a GREAT course! Lots and lots of hills on both the cycle and run. Oh, and the swim was just about ideal! *sigh* Yep, I've gotta go back and conquer it!

| I guess I don't check the posts for No Cal very often.. the other CA bella was me... suffering away in what has been a challenging year, but did complete the Short course in the top 10 in the age group (my age group seemed to have an odd number of pro women... hum... ). Training this year was been severely hampered, first by illness (yep, that pneumonia URI crap), then physical injury (stupid calf!), then by a new job... so I'm just now starting to get some good workouts in. I did however have a rather spectatorlicious killer bella ending.... Attachment: IMG_2487_1.jpg (Downloaded 20 times)
