Hey gals,
Just a reminder to think about racing the Memorial Day Crit. They have a separate women's cat 3 field (in addition to a 1/2/3 and a separate 4 field)!! We have been asking for more cat 3 only fields so if we want them to be successful, we gotta show up.
Other good things--our race time is 11:10--not too early, not too late! Prizes are decent and go 10 deep. Many of us know this course well from our practice crit training over the last few years.
I plan to be there. Even if you aren't going to make it, remind your cat 3 friends on other teams to show up. Well, not the fast ones.....!

Hi, Bellas!
I second Bunny's message! Bay Area Women's Cycling has worked extensively with SJBC to offer separate women 3 and women 4 categories as part of our 2009 Northern California Racing Series, and BAWC plans to include team-sponsored primes during both races as well as to pad the prizes for both Series categories.
Not enough temptation? The profits from the women's cat 4 race will be donated to the medical fund for local cat 4 racer Ashleigh Jackson, who was hit by a hit-and-run driver last month.
In case you haven't heard via the NCNCA list or our Facebook group, SJBC has very generously offered three free entries for BAWC to raffle off to women who pre-register for Kern by this Thursday (online entries only). However, please don't let this discourage you from pre-registering for the Memorial Day criterium, too. If you win the raffle, SJBC will refund your entry fee for the crit.
The most important thing we can do to support the promoters who support us (through single-category women's fields, through equal prize money and equal distances, or through participation in the Series) is to pre-register and then come out to race. There are many promoters in the area who really support women's racing, but it can be nerve-wracking for them to have only five women pre-registered the night before a race, and even if the fields fills on race day, fields with little pre-registration are the first to come into question when deciding what fields to provide next year. So if you know you're going to do a race (especially a Series race -- we don't want to lose those!), let the promoter know they can count on you!
Thanks,
Elis Bradshaw
