 Calling all trail enthusiasts!

You can be a part of an amazing weekend at Coyote Lake-Harvey Bear County Park in Morgan Hill on May 5th & 6th, 2007. We have the wonderful opportunity to help open 3.5 miles of new trails on the hillside overlooking Coyote Lake, and you are needed to help make it happen!

Volunteers for Outdoor California will be hosting the weekend trailbuilding effort. You do not have to have previous experience working on trails to participate. We provide food, fun, tools, training, and all the planning to make it work. We will be handbuilding one mile of hiking/biking narrow singletrack, and doing finish work on 2.5 miles of horse/hike/bike trail that has been rough-cut using a trail machine. Our project will get these trails open for your enjoyment! Saturday, all volunteers will be treated a fabulous gourmet Mexican dinner and music in celebration of Cinco de Mayo!

Crew Leaders Wanted!

As a crew leader, you get to be part of the leadership team that helps make V-O-Cal's large-scale projects successful. We rely on our crew leaders to guide small groups of volunteers on a section of the project so that we can produce high-quality trails for the public to enjoy. Crew Leaders receive special training in leadership, safety, tools, and technical skills. If you enjoy being a volunteer on projects and are interested in leadership, then enter the Crew Leader program. If you have previous trail work experience, join us for V-O-Cal Crew Leader Training and be part of this rewarding and fun program.

Pick one of the Crew Leader training weekends that works best for you:

March 24 & 25, Waterdog Lake Park, Belmont
March 31 & April 1, Harvey Bear Park, Morgan Hill
April 7 & 8, Waterdog Lake Park, Belmont
April 14 & 15, Muir Heritage Sky Ranch, Martinez
April  21 & 22, Location TBD, South Santa Clara County

Weekend Volunteers Wanted!

Imagine a weekend camping in a beautiful place without having to make the reservations yourself, imagine great food - without having to worry about cooking or packing. Now add the satisfaction of a great workout and making a lasting contribution. V-O-Cal's calendar of projects is filling up. Check below for other opportunities in addition to Harvey Bear.
