Hi Everyone,
I am a new member, just got all set up today actually! I live in Brighton Mi and have been mountain biking for many years now. I just recently moved back to MI after finishing school in Austin TX but I am happy to be back in a mountain bike riding and race friendly area once again! I haven't done too many races recently but I want to get back into racing regularly. I am signed up to do the Maybury time trial in two weeks! I joined Velo Bella because I am looking for people to ride/train with. I enjoy riding at Lakeshore, Island Lake, Maybury, Brighton etc. I also enjoy doing trailwork session so I am not afraid to get my hands dirty! Do you do any weekly rides? Let me know if you are interested in riding!

I actually live in Utah now, but just had to mention that I grew up in Brighton! Though... I didn't start mountain biking until I moved away, but I bet there is some really fun riding in the area!
Anyway - welcome!!

Welcome! I am in the Detroit area. And...if you want to talk about a small world, I will be doing the San Antonio Rock and Roll marathon in November. It has been very difficult for me to do any "quality training" on the bike with my two year old around, so I have taken up a sport I actually loathed... I guess I am coming around though since I signed up for a marathon. (Maybe it just hasn't sunk in yet!) tee hee
If you are ever in the area, let me know! I also go to Kensington Metropark when I am able on the weekends! (In fact, I was just there this morning doing a "wog". (Half walk, half jog with my son in the jogger) I'm sure you are well aware of the great trails out there!
Oh, and if you like this sort of thing, there is a sprint triathlon this Wed that I will be participating in at Kent Lake right at the park there. (Called the t-rex. I'm sure you could sign up still if you wanted!)
Welcome to our happy little group! I have some Bella bottles if you'd like a few too!

Link to the tri. http://www.runtrextri.com/ Even if you haven't done one, a sprint distance is VERY do-able! (And loads and loads of fun.....)

Hi Dianna~
I am well aware of the great trails out in my area! I do a lot of stuff at Kensington, sometimes a road ride, rollerblading, etc. I haven't gotten into a triathlon yet, I want to but I haven't been in the pool in awhile so I may have to wait a few more months on that. I am usually out at Island Lake riding the trail, since it is the closest to me I seem to ride there all the time.

Just want to let you know that I will be out at Kensington (hopefully) every Saturday morning around 7:30 to do some run (ok...trot) training! I will most likely be bringing my bike along too since I need to do something fun after doing something I really dislike. (eekkss!)
Let me know if you'll be out there!

Hi Dianna~
This Saturday I am doing a 5K race in the morning but perhaps another Saturday morning I will be tempted to join you - that is if I can get out of bed early enough

Hi Alison & Welcome !
I'm living on the other side of the state (Kalamazoo), but hope to meet you soon. I'll be at some of the tailwind cyclocross races this fall. Will you try some ?
There is ALSO an informal cross event TOMORROW (Sept11) & all Bellas are welcome to check it out! If my work schedule cooperates, I hope to be there!
After a nice long break the Jolly Pumpkin Ann Arbor Cyclocross Series is back for Round #4.
Round #3 was the largest JP race yet. Much thanks to the Caldwell's for putting on another spectacular race. The weather was perfect and the racing was intense. The sleeping dragon Blair Dudley wrestled himself awake to handily walk away with the win. Rodger Bowser came on strong to take second. The identity of the third place was lost in the ensuing mayhem. Despite the new names the overall series leadership changed little. With his second 2nd place in a row Rodger Bowser pulls into the series lead, followed by the stalwart Rich Stack, and Jason Lummis pulls into third, slightly edging out Brian Rosewarne despite his swiss army knife like utility.
All this brings us to the fourth round of the series: Vindication at Vets.
The race will take place Thursday, September 11th, at Vets Park
The start/finish will be near the parking lot off of Dexter Road, which is also the best place to park. This race will be the truest cross race of the season yet; there will be barriers and the course will be the approximate length of a traditional cross course. If enough people show up, the race will likely be broken into two groups (A and B). The A race will be 60 minutes and the B race will be 45 (racers can race in whatever group they want). The A race will go off at 6:30 and the B quickly after that. Special for this event is the venerable course designer Coach Primehunter. As always the prizes for this event will be graciously provided by Two Wheel Tango, Mighty Good Coffee, and Morgan & York. Please plan to stay around after the race for an award ceremony, of a sort.
I hope to see you out there,
-PPCX

I know this is a few years late for a post! haha. But I live in Ferndale/RO area and mountain bike with friends several times a week. We usually ride Novi, Maybury during the week and then other trails on the weekends.
If you are interested let me know.
