As most of you know by now, I race singlespeed exclusively in both of my chosen disciplines (stxc and cross), and I absolutely love it.
However, I would like to hear from other women who ride singlespeed and find out what gearing you use, for dry conditions and also for wet, muddy conditions.
It would help if you indicate gearing, crankarm length and wheel size (26" or 29"), and whether most of your riding is relatively flat or has some hills.
Thanks --Beth

Fun stuff that SS.  I ride my SS mostly when it is wet or muddy and don't want to mess up my geared bikes.  I do race it in a local races.  I keep a 34/17 on the bike full time for most everything.  In the local race I could go 34/16 as it is a flat course with small 10-20 peddle stoke hills.  I have 175 cranks (so my hubby says), 26" wheels, and a larger frame.  I train on long hills with it but it is not efficient.  The gearing requires too much torque for me to be fast.  I am just too lazy to change gears so I leave it where it is.  I am not a spinner so I hate the flats on it.  I do use bar ends and have wider handlebars.  Bar ends are a must for me.  I  use a "candy" type platform peddle instead of just the egg beater.  Thanks
