I'm looking to find out what the stock Lisa Supreme RD bikes came with. I fitted my frame with a compact crankset and an 11-27 in the back. I am finding that some of the gears are a real stretch for this setup. (To the point that it is loosening links on my chain in certain situations.)
I don't want to loose any of my gearing, but as it is right now I can only use certain gearing due to the chain stretch I am experiencing. (I wore a chain out after only about 1000 miles!)
Anyone know what the stock bikes came with so I can emulate that??

| Is your small ring a 34 or a 36 tooth? Are you running Shimano, SRAM, or Campy? 8, 9, or 10 speed? What method did you use to size your current chain?

Oooooh gosh. I'll have to double check on the small ring....I'm at work right now. I wouldn't have normally chosen a compact chainring as I tend to be a "gear masher". (Sorry Lance!) LOL! But...It came with a new group-o I found on-line. So...unfortunately I'm not very well versed in the specifics of "compact" chainrings.
I am running Shimano 10 speed. As far as sizing the chain, well, there was no science to my method. I basically put the bike on my bike repair stand and just ran through the gears looking for "slack" or over-tightness. I also used the very unscientific approach of comparing the tension of the chain to my other bike which was professionally built. (In other words....there was no actual calculation!)
Wish I could draw a pic for you, but the problem appears to be with how much "cross" there is. Even when in a good middle of the road gear on the cassette it looks like the chain is crossing. (Does that make any sense?)

Here's a few things to check:
A measurement from the midpoint between the inner and outer chainring and the center of the seat tube should be close to 44.5mm.
When in the 50x11 and 34x27 gear combinations the rear derailleur pulleys should align in close to a vertical line.
Modern chains can handle a pretty signficant sideways flex, so if the bike is set up properly you should be able to use any gear combination that doesn't rub the front derailleur plates.
What kind of wear necessitated replacing the previous chain after only ~1000 miles? Was it "stretch"?
