I am having a hard time with this. I hate tight, but know that is what is best! Layers are always good, but I have no idea where to start. I don't want to spend 500 in clothing, but I guess I want good stuff, especially for the rearend!

I have fallen in love with the Louis Garneau shorts!  The team shorts from last year are great, and I've even gotten a couple of other pair since then that I absolutely love!  I have some Craft shorts that I really like the chamois in, but the material shows every bump and dimple in my butt!  Not very attractive!  I would definitely recommend spending the extra money on the shorts, though, because it's worth every penny.  And, don't forget the chamois butter!  I personally don't use the stuff, but I know a lot of people who swear by it.

I'm a HUGE fan of Sugoi shorts. Especially the ones with the lime green chamois. They vent well and have padding in all the right places. I second the comment on not skimping on the shorts. A good pair is priceless. Fox also makes some good baggies for women. I don't wear them but get alot of good feedback from women at the shop I work at.

I am a ultradistance rider-- 12+ hours in the saddle and my all time favorite shorts are the Shebeest shelastic chamois shorts-- ultradistance shorts or Triple SSS short. I agree that tight is better (I even go a size down). You don't want the chamois to bunch or move.  I always go commando after riding (post race skirts).  The LG short has also been great. A new fav!

sheila moon jerseys!  Of course, it's great to support a sponsor, but that is not the only reason!  The jerseys are soooo soft, fit well, last for a long time, and come in such fun patterns !  Who can say no ????  http://www.sheilamoon.com
