| Anyone ridden the 2007 Kona Blast hardtail? If so, I'd love to hear your opinion. I'm considering it for my first-ever mountain bike.

I wasn't familiar with the Blast so I had to go look it up

It sure is pretty!
What is your intended use? I ask because it looks like the Blast is built up with a frame that is a bit sturdier than usual HT frames. Which is good if you are thinking about jumps and stuff, but not if you are thinking about riding it up lots of hills.
For an all around HT cross country bike sort of in that price range, I like the Kula Lisa. The frame is a little lighter, but the components are a nice jump from what is offered on the Blast. But again, it depends on the use you intend!

Thanks, Sabine! BTW, congrats on your award -- you are so deserving of it!
I'd be learning on this bike, and probably doing alot of dumb moves since I currently possess no MTB experience, style, or finesse. Yes, the terrain I'd be on would be hilly with some steep short grades, but not mountainous. I did want to keep my investment around $500-600 since I'm not sure if I will take to off-road cycling.
I'm also looking at non-Kona HT bikes in the same price/spec range. Recommendations are welcome.

Just wanted to post an update: I waited until the 2008 models were available, and I ordered the Kona Lisa HT -- I love it! I've ridden it twice now, and I am very pleased with everything about it. The best part was that I was able to ride it practically right out of the bike shop with only a seat height adjustment. I've never had a women specific bike before, and I find it amazing (and oh so worth it!) that I don't have to change out the components to get a shorter stem, narrower bars, short-reach brake handles, and saddle! Plus, the color scheme and VB logo on the frame make it unique among the crowd I ride with.
Thank you, Kona, for being our sponsor!
