Hi CO Bellas!  My husband and I are off to camp (cycling camp, that is) in Nederland, starting 9/27.  While we'll be enjoying guided rides on road and on trail, I would love to hear from you about all the stuff listed below ... just in case we feel like superheroes & want to fit in even more riding & fun!
  • cycling events in the area 9/27 through 10/5
  • favorite group rides 9/27 through 10/5, especially Bella rides!
  • favorite coffee shops, restaurants, parks, places to hang, etc.
  • favorite bike shops, running shops, outdoor gear stores(of course - what other kind of shopping is there?)
  • anything else you would want to tell a friend who's coming to town to visit :)

Hi!
Hope you enjoy your time in CO!
First, there is a big cx race on 9/27, part of the Boulder cyclocross series.
Also I would check out the American Cycling Association website- it lists all races in CO.
Bike shop- Full Cycle (there are two locations in Boulder) hands down is the best!
Pearl St Mall is a must see with tons of shopping/food/peoplewatching. Just south of there is the river with a park to hang out at. Not to mention the best hot dogs ever at Colonel Mustards. (OOh and the Cheesecake Factory has the best coffee, salads, and margaritas, believe it or not!)
If you're up for some hiking, Chautauqua Park is beautiful.
Most of the shopping/eating is off of 28th St. (One drive through there and you'll see!)
Also the CU campus is close by, with lots of grass and trees.
As for road rides, Four Mile Canyon, Left Hand Canyon, Gold Hill, and Flagstaff Mtn. are popular ones.

Let me know if you have more questions! Happy riding!

I must be crazy.  FIRST - thanks for all of the info & your quick reply!  SECOND - I know we can't bring 6 bikes in our little subaru.  Which means we have to choose between 'cross bike and mountain bike.

TELL ME MORE about this 9/27 'cross race?  Is it worth punting on my mtb?  Would there be enough fire roads or easier trails to justify bringing a 'cross bike instead of an mtb?

Why, oh why, don't I have a minivan?

Well...depends. If you're into serious gnarly singletrack, then I would make room for the mtb for the Boulder trails.
However, if you're strapped for space, personally I'd bring the cross bike! Besides, it's all you need to see all of the Boulder area, including yes, lots of fire roads/packed dirt/urban trails.

Okee, so this race...I would start by looking at the website/description. (boulderracing.com) I've heard from other riders that the course is wicked fun! Lots of grass, a sand pit, few tight turns, a few good run ups. Here is another website you can check out if you want to see pics.

Go down to "cyclocross" - "10.20 Interlocken Boulder cx2" (A local team posted these from last year!)

The Boulder series is supposed to be a blast and lots of fun people show up. It'll be my first race and I would LOVE to have another Bella there with me! :)
Oh and the weather on Sat is supposed to be gorgeous!

You could always put more bikes in the car and have your hubby run alongside

:D

Awesome!  Thanks for the info :)

While I don't necessarily agree that 'cross and gorgeous weather are meant to be used together in the same sentence, we've reached an amicable compromise and - traffic permitting - plan to be at the Boulder race.  What compromise is that?  We both bring road bikes & mtbs.  Plus we bring Jonathan's 'cross bike, which we can share at the race, since we have different start times.  I wouldn't have guessed I could get "2 bikes on, 3 bikes in & 5 wheels in" the Subaru with all of our other gear too!

Looking forward to meeting you (and any other bellas!) at the race !
