I'm wondering if any Bellas are cyclotouristes rather than racers (or in addition to, though I can't imagine anyone having the time and energy to do both in equal measure).
I'm happy to read about all the racing but my heart is really in the cyclotouring scene. I'd love to network with others who are doing long-distance riding.
Hi Beth,
I'm a distance person on the East Coast! I'll race now and again when my chums talk me into it, but most of the time I'm either riding in tours or brevets. I really enjoy the social scene in the distance community.
I was out in Portland a couple years back and did a 300km with Susan's crew - what a blast! If you're out this way (Central NY) stop in for a ride!
Nice to know. Yeah, Susan (of Oregon Randonneurs) is a bit of a super-star in the RUSA (RandoUSA) crowd. Through her efforts the rando scene in our area has really taken off, and she's great about reaching out especially to new women riders. I was made to feel especially welcome when my buddy Mike brought me to my first populaire last spring.
I will keep your invite in mind. In 2009 my parter and I are hoping to head east for a law-school graduation and will try to hit several stops along the east cost. Cheeres --Beth
