Hey Ladies,
I'm driving out from Patterson, NY to MI, probably leaving really early Thurs AM and will have space for bikes and/or a passenger if anyone wants to come and race this event. The only thing is that I'll be staying there a week to visit family - I can take you there, but then you'll need to fly out Sunday from Traverse City airport, or Monday from Flint or MBS, all of which I can drop you off at and drive your bike back home a week later.

Hi Everyone,
http://www.iceman.com
Quick note from the recently defrosted great white north! Our friends over in Michigan have this little race every November called Iceman, and I have heard epic tales of wonder and amusement for years now about how fun Iceman is for contestants and fans alike. The race has been going on for almost 20 years, and all 2000 registration slots have been reserved within 48 hours of being available over the last few years. This is a SPECIAL deal…
Steve Brown and Dave Myers do a phenomenal job of organizing and promoting this event and they have set aside a limited number of slots JUST for Velo Bella members. Remember, there is no way to get a ticket to this party. They’ve been sold out for almost 9 months… I have committed to bring two Pro MTB racers and our complete pro team setup to the race, but they would LOVE to see non-pro athletes come out and race too. There are age groups for each category of racer, so if you’re a total beginner and want to have fun, come on out because you’ll race against other beginners too. You can race tandem, solo, fixed, single speed, on a downhill bike, whatever! Steve has secured almost $10,000 in merchandise prizes and $23,200 in cash! Don’t miss your chance to come out and enjoy a fantastic weekend of racing before things too silly up here in Polar Bear country.
So here’s the deal. This race is more of a weekend destination than it is purely an MTB race. Let’s make a Velo Bella weekend of it. All you Minnesota Bellas, it is time to meet your MI sisters and show up in strength showing Michigan what Minnesota-ice-in-the-veins does for us. Bellas from warmer climes ready for a late season challenge get on a plane and we’ll meet you at the airport and get you to and from the race comfortably... I will coordinate travel schedules and race support just as the Pro Teams experience and you’ll get a chance to meet new VBs from around the country and see a part of the country you probably otherwise wouldn’t. Nothing against Traverse City, but I doubt being the cherry capital of the world draws many wintertime visitors. Having said that, I have a feeling Steve may know (I know Dave does) a super secret source of Cherry Brandy useful to warm cold bones on a cold day…
Race registration costs $60 and needs to get to me soon. Once I know who is going to commit to a great weekend of fun and merriment, we’ll coordinate transportation and lodging to make things easy on everyone… We have a very limited number of slots (HUGELY popular race), so let me know quickly.
Have fun,
Alex
