Okay, instantly hooked. Yesterday I attended the Cross clinic sponsored by no there than ours truely, Velo Bella. Not knowing at all what in the world I was getting into which is always better, I borrowed a mtn. bike from my friends daughter, shoes, cleats and pedals from Miss Mary, and offerred lots of encouragement from other fella bellas. Clinic was so helpful!!!!! A must when offered again. So excited afterwards my new friend Susie Barber hooked me up by taking me to get some new mtn bike shoes.
Today, very nervous, total fish out of water. But again the Bella Crew true to their form helped calm my nerves with gettin me together and all of their encouragement. I met Rachel Wolff at the back of the start, so sweet, both our first time and both of us on mtn bikes. In my first lap I fell in love!!!!!!!!!! The pain, fatigue, dirt in my mouth, the nerves. It was all wonderful and I can't wait to do it again.
Today I learned about overdressing, the importance of the right equipment, you can teach an old dog new tricks and the benefits of being of part of the right cycling team. I couldn't have done without the team support. Grazi .

It WAS totally rad, and yes, I believe dirt is still coming out of my eyes from the start!
Glad you are stoked too! You totally helped calm my nerves for the start! Today also reminded me how rad Velo Bellas are! Mary, and Sabina, and the Bella who said "Bellas Rock" during the race as she passed me
What a great team!
Oh and I loved the section with the three barriers and the run up, it was totally painful, but all the heckelers in the crowd, were super encouraging!

i loved the run-up crowd too! very positive energy there!!
that mighta been me who said something to you.....there was a bella i didn't recognize that i cheered on when i went by--kinda up by the school buildings? i'm not sure though because i don't think i said 'bellas rock'. i don't really remember exactly what i said--'bella' was one of the words, but i think it sounded mostly like 'spurtle-Bella-sputter-Go!' which is pretty close to 'bellas rock' in maximum heart rate talk!

I think I remember you over by the school buildings? Were you near Sabina? There was another Bella on the grass near the finish line too. It was great to see so many Bellas!

Congrats on your first 'cross race -- it's scary fun, isn't it?
I think it's time for all the California Bellas to plan and execute a ROAD TRIP to PDX.
Cross Crusade 2010 -- how about it? It's just like cyclocross anywhere else in the US, only wetter and louder.
Seriously. Consider it.

The Soquel run-up...the bestest heckling run-up in all of NorCal!
Great to hear all the cross enthusiasm and to see so many new faces in the pics and results. Keep it up ladies!
