Hi Ladies - got up super early today to give the Mt. Diablo Hill climb a try.  This timed climb/TT starts on the north side from the Rangers Station and ends just before the junction.  About 6 miles.  This race started w/ class -- a ramp and bike holder!  Unfortunately the winds were blowing and all that speed gained going down the ramp was quickly lost by slogging into the headwind.    I think my legs must still be feeling Sattley as I felt like I was climbing on 4 by 4 wooden posts.  I kept yelling at them to wake up, wake up!  Finally, about 3/4s of the way up, they started to perk up.  I took a finish line sprint with a woman in another category, but my legs woke up way too late and out of 7 or 8 women, I think I ended up 7 or 8.  I'll have to wait for the official results to be posted online as one thing this hill climb did do for me was make me very hungry, and I didn't wait around for my official thrashing.   Marsha

Great ride report!

I lived in Walnut Creek for a couple of years when I was a kid and we used to take our BMX bikes and ride the dirt roads on and around Mount Diablo. One of these days -- next time my partner and I plan a trip to the Bat Area -- I want to bring my grown-up bike there and ride as far up as I can go. I keep looking at photos at the Rivendell Web site and seeing how beautiful it still is, and I wanna go.

Thanks you.  It is an absolutely beautiful ride.  Spring w/ the green hills and wildflowers is the best!
