While many of the NorCal Bellas were racing in Kern County, Brittany T, Emily Kurze, and I participated in the first annual Ventura Stage Race. Our field was a combined 3/4, but since the three of us are 4's, we were not allowed to participate in the prologue. The crit was an interesting, 40 minute race with 50 feet of climbing per lap. Pretty much the entire field with the exception of 2 Chicken Ranch girls got dropped. There were only three that stayed together the entire race.
We woke up at 5am Sunday morning to drive to Ojai for the circuit race. Emily was ill, so it was just Britt T and I. We had a great driver and helped - Rick, Emily's hubby. He helped out so much and we're very thankful to him. The race - 5.7 mile laps with over 400 feet of climbing each lap (1 mile hill). I stuck with the pack until the first climb, then Britt and I got dropped. My goal of each race was to finish, so I did just that.
Overall, I had a great experience. Brittany and I have become good friends, so it was great to have a buddy there. In addition, the weather was amazing! It was actually chilly at night and after the race, so we hung out in the hot tub to warm up.
