Just have to say what an amazing team mate and fellow 45+ racer Liz Benishin is...

She wrote a report on the fun facts about this past weekend's Kern stage race but now I need to mention what an incredible racer and person she is. She crushed on the TT! The next day we heard that she went back to her room that evening and sewed her friend Julie a skirt to wear for the next day. What the heck, are you kidding me?!

Stage two we worked out a plan for the stage to try and get me some precious time back and save her energy for later. She set me up well for the time bonuses, one of which I really blew. But helped me get a 2nd place finish.

Stage three hill climb, the talk after the race as reported by our super feed zones guys was that of obsessed focus with some snool. The famous lines from Phil L. and Paul S. "riding like a man possessed" and "digging deep into the suitcase of courage" came to mind! Liz dominated on this stage!

Stage three we just needed to keep her safe and out of trouble. The first hill she made the comment that this was going to be a nice recovery ride! HA! not for me!My "lucky" flat was followed by a gradual downhill so I could chase back on fairly easy. By the time we started climbing again,   Liz was pushing the pace to try and wear-out the gals in front of me on the GC. I had to ask her out loud to turn it down, otherwise I was going to pop off the back. (I didn't have the energy to get up front to tell her quietly!) She lead me out at the finish to give me a 3rd place finish...she pretty much had to put her brakes on to let me get it. She could have easily taken that stage win all on her own.

Hard race for me...another day in the office for Liz! I think we need to call her Liz "Martha Stewart Armstrong" Benishin!! Amazing!!

Happy to be beaten up by you Liz!

What a great weekend.  This team rocks.  For three days, I viewed examples of what a PRO team is all about.

I think this year will be the year of the mechanicals in the 35+ category.  And each situation was handled with cool heads and the wheels changes were done to perfection.

As I see it, here is the winning recipe for the 2009 35+ category:
* Monica brought her climbing legs and GC experience
* Stella unleashed her power and "Stellaness".
*Linda blended into the recipe her vast race experience  and never give up attitude
*Andrea swirled in her tenacity and ability to claw her way back to help the team
*Sabine added her tactical magic, cool head under pressure and punchy              exposiveness
*Sue contributed her "super domestiqueness"
*Laura choreographed it all with her perfectly timed attacks and uber smart racing

All the bellas out there this weekend raced their hearts out.  We bonded in the heat, supported each other and made me proud of each and every one of you.

Thanks for the memories.

wow, don't know how to reply to that except it was a phenomenal weekend.

Thank you all for such a great time. I feel like I walked away from this weekend as a winner, of course, by the stats,  but more importantly because of the people i have around me. Truly an amazing group of women and I feel so fortunate to have you guys in my life.

Can you remember me if I end up in Saudi Arabia sweltering away in the heat, desperately in need of a bike ride? Will you come to my rescue?

Wait............maybe only Erika knows the whole story   :)

OK, after Andi's race report I'm choked up...

I did sew the skirt for Julie but had cut it out at home.

I am a warrior seamstress.
