My first Louisiana race report and it wasn't even a real bike race. I did my first duathlon on Saturday...I was going to do the Xterra Gator Terra tri, but thankfully I found out at the day of the event that there was a duathlon, so I switched! There is some shockingly sweet singletrack sprinkled around northwest Louisiana, so I was excited to race on the trails even if it was sandwiched in between a couple of trail runs.
Long story short, the field was small with just two other ladies total in the group of about 25 or so duathletes (the tri field was pretty big). I love trail running almost as much as I love mountain biking, so I was excited for a fun morning of playing in the dirt no matter what happened. The race was a 1.1-mile trail run, 10-mile mountain bike, and another 3.5-mile trail run. I ended up winning the race and had a blast doing it. Its too bad that there aren't more dirt du's around...I refuse to do a tri and my body doesn't like running on pavement...so I'll stick to my little niche.
The full race report can be found here.

Hi Beth,
Congrats on your first LA race! Great to hear how you're doing. I read your trip blogs - sounds like good fun!

Sounds fun!! I am not much of a swimmer either. Though I have tried to pretend in the past. Congratulations on winning your race!
