Yeah.. this race pretty much sucks... that is unless you are into potholes, gravel, hot weather (100+), steep hills, AND time trialing! What a day...what a day! There were 9 gals starting the cat4 women's race and 1/2 of them were in their early 20's, so I pretty much knew they were going to leave me behind in the dust. I got dropped on the long hill, but the lead pack of 4 was still in sight for quite a while. I bombed down the back rough side pretty good and enjoyed the ride until about mile 45 of 63 when I ran out of fuel (had plenty of H20), but was needing some sugar! That's when the dry heaves set in and I couldn't even enjoy a long fast smooth decent. I must have dry heaved 100 times and even stopped to try to get something up! I was finally caught by a gal who lost her back brake and had a flat...and she was as glad to see me as I was to see her. We chatted and survived the last ten miles together... She crossed the finish line before me which was only fair after she had endured so many bike breaks and still caught me. I was just glad to make a new friend and fiinish 5th!!
