Hope this isn't too dumbass a question, but are there minimums for certain styles of clothing?  I plan on ordering a long sleeve jersey and don't really care if it's the thermal or not, but I *do* want the race cut.  Do we have to bunch together in each category, or is everything listed fair game?  Thanks!  Alex

Here is a dumb question. For those of you who are familiar with the Voler skin suit sizing. My hips are a 38 and my bust is almost as large. I usually buy a size 6 in pants and a medium in tops when shopping for regular clothing. I am 5 foot 8 and 143 pounds. Does a medium sound right for the skin suit? I like my clothes very fitted. I'd rather have it a little too snug than loose. But I don't want it to be too short and have camel toe!

Not dumbass at all!

We have to meet minimums for each category.  So to get a long sleeve jersey of any kind, we need to have at least 25 items ordered in that entire category.  So if 24 women order arm warmers and you are the only one who orders a long sleeve jersey, your order will still go through.

Vicki- I've ordered a sizing kit, so you can come try it on!  I should have it by Thursday.  I'll post on the Yahoo group when I get it.

Whitney,
Will you have the kit at B&L? If so I am going to stop in and try some stuff on. I will be on my bike but I promise to come with underwear and just from the UCSD pool where I have been chlorinated and showered :)

The small jersey is comfortable, not tight, on me.

And the shoulders/arms are not tight.  If anything, I consider them a tad loose in that area.

I don't know if anyone can answer the pad question.  The trilogy pad was redesigned for this year and is a little less thick than last year (because it was felt to be too thick).  So I have ridden the diamante--Whitney and Emily have ridden last year's trilogy.  But I don't think anyone has ridden the new trilogy.....

are the chamois women specific?  is the shorts cut women specific?  meaning..for a 5'2" athlete, will the shorts come to my knees?

I normally wear medium shorts...should I stay with what I normally wear or do I need to down size for Voler?

The pads are women's specific.  So are the shorts.

The trilogy pad they consider their long distance pad--the foam is thicker than on the diamante.  The diamante, from my experience, is a very nice pad.  The foam is not super dense, so I agree it is better for shorter rides, but I do 3 hours on it ok.

If you click on the size for any item, it gives you specifics.  So all the short inseams are listed for your perusal.

It is always hard to please everyone on short lengths.  I think these inseams are borderline too short which means you, sue, will think they are too long.....

Do you know what size LG and Hincapie shorts you wore, Sue?  I wore medium LG and Small Hincapie and am a Small in Voler.  I can't compare to the PW because they were too weird.

If the Norcal gals want to get sizing samples, we can arrange it.  I posted about this last week but no one showed any interest so I have assumed the Norcalis were mostly familiar enough with Voler sizing.

The sizing tab on each item gives the inseam length, although that's not a definitive measure of how long they will appear. They look like they have small leg holes, so they will probably catch further down on your quad and appear long-ish.

Sunago,

I wear medium in the Voler shorts (large in the tops, medium skinsuit). You would probably prefer small, I'm guessing.

They seem to run 1 size bigger than the Garneau stuff, at least for my impression.

Looks like the FS short is what's on order, these run a little long on the leg but are super comfy! I just tried the samples on 2 months ago and loved them, but did think they were too long...oh well...

Should we go a size down on the bib knickers since they are men's sizing? Or same as the bib shorts? They always go by waist sizing which is relevant for men, but not so much for women. My height and waist are extra small, but I'm guessing my hips are not.

the men's sizing is definitely different than the women's

i've not worn a lot of voler men's clothing in the past, but i have generally sized down one size and looking at their sizing chart, that makes sense.

slowpoke--what are your waist/hip measurements and how tall are you?  The men's bibs are going to be relatively tall and you may have some extra hip room as a result.....

Sue: Yes, I wear the women's medium in Voler. That is why I'm thinking you would prefer the small - they run a bit more "American" and a little less "Euro" in the sizing. :)

Another silly question. You'll have to forgive because its been a few years since I've been on this forum (and I am sadly one of the original developers of it!) so I'm a little way out of the loop.

so question is: I live in Switzerland now (not California). who ships the clothing and can they ship to Europe? I don't mind paying the fees obviously. just want them shipped. If not, i will have them shipped to a friend or family member in the states.

for my shopping cart on Voler, I put my address in Switzerland. if the shipper can't ship there, i will change it to a US address. (or tell me where I should change it).

Thanks!

Hi Julie.

I'll be doing all the sorting and shipping. It would definitely be easier to send it to you friend, but if you'd like me to send it to you I can. I doubt I'll be able to do it until after Christmas, and you'd need to reimburse me whatever the extra cost it.

Hi Whitney,

I sent you a personal message on where to send my order. hope that's ok, because I needed to use Voler's address box for my "billing" address which is NOT a shipping address. it's a large order so i hope you will make a note of where to send it in the States, so it can be reshipped to me in Europe.

thanks!

Speaking of the minimums, the ordering site has the minimums as 100 for both the black and white jerseys and 50 for bottoms, with none of the above close to being filled. However, I got a reminder email this morning listing much lower minimums that showed that black shorts sleeves and bottoms had met the minimum and long sleeves and white jerseys were just a few pieces away from fulfilling the minimum. Does anyone know which figure is correct?

Regardless, I will second the plug for the white jerseys, as well, since I ordered one and would like to be able to get it.

The 100 minimum will include the white jersey in with all the short sleeve black pieces. Still, I'm a little nervous about making the minimum. If we miss it, the cost could be different.

I tried to get a hold of our rep yesterday, but haven't heard back. I'll try again tomorrow.

Just a clarification:

I got that email too and was initially confused.  But I think the email is referring to the bare bottom minimum--meaning we need at least 15 bottoms, short sleeves of all types, long sleeves of all types or they won't run that part of the order.  That is the minimum we have met or are very close to on all the different parts of the order.

The minimum of 100 for all the shorts sleeves, 50 for the bottoms, 25 for long sleeves are price minimums.  As long as we have 15, they will run the order, but the price will be potentially higher if we don't hit those numbers.

That is my understanding from talking to Whitney, she can correct me if I am wrong.

OK -- I just ordered a white jersey so we are up to 10.

We should send out another e-mail to the club Yahoo group -- I only saw the order info on velobellarace -- did we miss sending it to velobella? or are we not opening up the order to non-racers?

The ordering info was sent to race Yahoo group, club Yahoo group, SoCal Yahoo group and LA Yahoo group (in other words, all the groups I have access to). I also posted it on my Facebook page. I was planning on sending out another reminder to each group Friday morning.

I've left a couple messages with our contact about the minimums. The white jerseys WILL run because they will be added in with the main (black) order. They have the same colors for the print, so it's all the same. My understanding is they split the order to avoid confusion when ordering (not sure how well THAT'S worked out).

The thing I'm not sure about is if they will up the prices if we don't meet our anticipated order numbers (100 short sleeve, 50 bottoms, etc.). As soon as I can get a definite answer, I'll let everyone know.

In the meantime, if you know someone who has been meaning to order but hasn't gotten around to it, PLEASE ASK THEM TO DO SO!!!

Thanks!

Whitney

Just an update for everyone--we have added short sleeve skinsuits to the WHITE jersey order.  The top half of the skinsuit will be the same as our white jersey artwork, and the bottom half of the skinsuit will be the same as our regular black shorts.  So there is no worry about butt cracks showing!

This is for all you time trialers, trackies, crit junkies who sweat as much as I do in black in the summer!

The link is the same as for our white jersey order above

https://custom.voler.com/?OrderID=aU0ghsBZOCo=

The order is open until Monday 10-18-10 so you have just a few days if you want to add this.  If you have already placed your order but want to add this or anything else, you can make changes up to the order deadline of 10-18-10.

Just like the white jerseys, the minimums are all combined with the black short sleeve order so we are trying to get 100 of all short sleeve black & white items.

Also, when you put this item in your cart, it will say "color:black" but don't think it is incorrect--that refers to the bottoms color of the skinsuit.  As long as you are in the white order section, it will be white.

Question about vests -

Anyone know if the Raglan Windshell vest has a mesh back or is it solid?
Not necessarily solid like thermal but solid fabric and not as breezy as a mesh back?

The thermal vest is pretty self explanatory but I'm looking for one that offers more warmth than my mesh back one does. Voler does make one its on their main page under tops, outerwear, titled Roadbike Review logo windvest is this what the Raglan Windshell is?

thanks for you help,

Another question to add about skinsuit mins - ones w/ white top. I have ordered one w/ the white top and black bottoms. However, I really do need a skinsuit, and don't want to be left w/no suit if this minimum has not been met. Is there anyway, that an announcement could go out on the minimums that have not been met so I/ we could change order to an alternate color before Monday deadline expires? Thanks.

As I understand it, all short sleeve jerseys and skin suits, both black and white all count toward the general "short sleeve" minimum of 100. So you shouldn't have to worry about changing to a black skinsuit at the last minute. However, as of right now, it looks there are only 70 total short sleeve garments ordered between the black and white together, so hopefully we will get some more orders before the deadline tomorrow.

Update!!!!

I just got word from Voler- our clothing is on time and set to be shipped to me by the middle of this month!

I'll let you know as soon as I receive the clothing. It will probably take me a couple of days to repackage and ship everything, but at this point it looks like we should all have our clothes by Christmas!

Hooray!

As far as a spring order goes- we can certainly do it if there's enough demand. After this order is through, I will check into it and let you know.

I went to the post office today and was able to ship about 50 of the VB clothes
packages. It was quite the adventure, and I ran out of time and was unable to
ship the second batch (another 30 packages).

So you MAY get your clothes before Christmas. Or you may get them next week. Sorry.

If you do not have your package by the end of next week, email me and we'll
figure out where it is.

I hope you all have a great holiday!
